Pero tras los ojos del cervato habita la tristeza,
lo sabes. La muerta real habla en tu segunda lengua.
Y cuando dices que queres morir, exultante y desnudo,

la verdad tiene en ti más voz que tragedia.
¡Qué sucia es la vida! Te guiña el ojo y ya te la ha metido...

 

To Die Young

I've heard many of those who sell their bodies
willingly, joyously, searching in their youth
for the ecstasies of the night and the satiated life
beyond life, radiant as a full moon,

I've heard them often say: "By next year
I'll be dead." Smiling, as I also smiled.
What perfect and desperate final adolescence!
The young and lovely corpses of surreal headbangers.

To die when pleasure withers the wild roses.
To die in the torrid climate of the decline of the world.
To die when drunkenness pardons insanity and harm.

But behind the eyes of these young bucks lives sadness,
you know. True death speaks in your second tongue.
And when, exultant and naked, you say that you want to die,

truth has more voice in you than tragedy.
How dirty life is! It winks at you, and already has stuck it to you...
